Sergei Eisenstein invented the montage in Battleship Potemkin (1925). But seeing as the Oscars weren’t even around then, Eistenstein gets our statue for October: Ten Days that Shook the World, a film that is a chore to get through, but one that carries symbolic image juxtapositions.
